I should really have gone tonight to uncover the courgettes, but we were late home from a lovely fish pie supper at Grandma's! there was a lovely gentle rain which would have been ideal, slowly soaking into the ground rather than last years' torrents, naturally the local water board Anglian Water would have stated that there was still a hosepipe ban and the wrong kind of rain...
I have more packets from Kings Seeds to grow, and the peas I put in I hope will not get eaten by slugs or pigeons! I started all my seedlings from B&Q Verve multi purpose compost (3 for £12 on the 60L peat free bags). The soil is still in desperate need of a sort out - clumpy, easily dries, although when worked it crumbles nicely. I think once the main growing season ends a fair few trips to local farmyards and a few trailer loads of manure will be required!
