The Rhodesian Ridgeback tribute

Bruce was a good dog in the end, almost 4 years old, in April he contracted Leukaemia and the effects were fast and aggressive.  Week 1 we had gone to the vet, she diagnosed a fever/infection so he had 3 types of tablet to digest, so tried to put them in his food but after the first two  feeds he became paranoid about his food having pills in... Had to force them into his mouth.

Week 2 started whining when he moved, but still walked around and went for slightly shorter 1/2 hour walks

Week 3 yelping when he moved, only drinking water hardly any food we had to pretend to give him our food and again forced tablets into him.  Went to the vets again, she felt every joint, sometimes he would yelp... Took blood samples and found leucocites [?] told me that she would send ye blood samples to a lab
Lab results returned confirming that Bruce had an aggressive type of leukaemia.  The next two weeks was just about making him comfortable and although it was a very painful decision we chose to euthanise rather than extend his life by would may only be months or two years at best.  The breeder kindly advised contacting a homeopathic method which helped with one of her dogs, but I knew this only extended the dogs life by a year or 2.

Now Bruce is not in any pain and he can chase squirrels in heaven
