Rain stops play

This morning started beautifully, sunny, warm... so walked the dogs around Bancroft Park which they love, Bruce the Ridgeback has a few friend he plays with but ended up not seeing any of the dogs he knows.  This coupled with the owners of the dogs he didn't know, putting their dogs on leads and not letting them socialise.

Came home, Luke (stepson) was finally up at 09:45, so got some breakfast down us and went up to the allotment to finally put more seeds in and put up the poly & fleece tunnels I bought from Aldi.  Managed to get 2 rows of Carrot (flyaway), beetroot (Boltardy) and romaine lettuce.  Re-covered the peas, and wondered whether the spinach would manage to grow above the clay soil given it now looked like a rice paddy field... I hope spinach likes swampy conditions?  Will soon find out!  Then the rain came, a nice gentle shower, but meant we ended up with more seeds and mud on our wellies rather than the ground.

Seedlings starting to come through in the conservatory, minicorn, regular sweetcorn and some border flowers; mixed cosmos, marigold, petunia and surfinia.   Should be a nice show for late spring :-)
